World Net Daily Refuses to Let the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) Go

I’ve been on travel for a few days – actually, I’m at the airport now – so this was posted three days ago, copied from NBC News, “Same-Sex Couples Eligible for Veterans’ Benefits.”

In other words, the Defense of Marriage Act, the key part of which was struck down by the Supreme Court earlier this summer, prevented the federal government from recognizing any same-gender marriage. Now that DOMA is DOA, the federal government has to recognize same-sex marriage just as it recognizes any other marriage. Which means that those roughly 1100 rights automagically granted to people when they marry someone of the opposite gender are now granted to people when they marry someone of the same gender.

And this is one of them. This shouldn’t be an opinion over whether this can or can’t be done. It’s a statement of law. Plain and simple.

Please tell that to WND commenters, such as Pi10107 who has the top-rated comment with 6 up-votes and 1 down-vote: “Past time to take back the White House. He has spit on our laws and Constitution since day one. Outrageous that they just sit there and let him do whatever he wants.”
