U.S. Allows Post-Viability Abortion Along with North Korea and China

This is an odd article, linked to a story from the Weekly Standard, entitled, “U.S. 1 of 4 Countries to Allow Abortions Post-Viability.” The sub-title is, “America joined only by Canada, North Korea, and China.”

Obviously, the implication is that the rest of the world does something, therefore we should. Or at least, in this case the rest of the world is doing something that WND considers good, therefore we should — a clear example of argumentum ad populum. Therein lies the hypocrisy.

For example:

  • Most of the rest of the developed world has socialized medicine, therefore shouldn’t we?
  • Most of the developed world has removed religion from politics, shouldn’t we?
  • Most of the developed world has strict gun control laws, shouldn’t we?
  • Every country in the world except the U.S., Burma, and Liberia use the metric system. Shouldn’t we?

I think my point is made.
