Spot the logical fallacies, anyone?

World Net Daily back on January 23, 2014, trumpeted this article as a “WND EXCLUSIVE” that was, surprisingly for an “EXCLUSIVE” unattributed: “Now Darwinists Fighting with Each Other.” The clear implication being that if there’s dissent within the Darwinist (I really hate that term) community, then therefore GodDidIt.

If you think I’m being to harsh or cynical in that paragraph, you won’t after I quote the first two paragraphs of the WND article:

While creationists are known for their fundamental disagreements with evolutionists, adherents of Darwin’s theory have their own sharp disagreements among each other.

One division that heating up is over whether or not placental mammals lived with dinosaurs, notes a report at Creation.com, a coalition of ministries across several countries that provides “real-world answers to the most-asked questions in the vital area of creation/evolution.”

See? It starts with the false dichotomy of creationism vs evolution. And, it immediately casts “evolutionists” as “adherents of Darwin’s theory” as opposed to, say, “millions of scientists who have seen the evidence that is presented for evolutionary theory and agree that evolutionary theory best explains all the observed data.” As opposed to a religious “adherent.”

I figured I’d use that as my rant against this particular WND article because the rest of it is just an ad for the then-upcomming (and there will be an eventual post on) debate between Ken Ham and Bill Nye.

The article did get 31 votes with a 4.32/5 star average, but a relatively whopping 626 comments. The comments are, for the most part, hackneyed creationist arguments.

So by the same logic, a Protestant and Catholic disagreeing means that Christianity is wrong.
